Arabic text doesn't show properly in Adobe Illustrator. Even with a font that supports Arabic text (e.g. Arial), the text is back to front (left to right, not right to left) and the letters don't join up properly. To an Arabic speaker, it's gibberish.

I opened up an old (ME version) InDesign file with editable Arabic text in it on my Mac's non-ME version InDesign CS6, and copied the Arabic text I needed from TextEdit/email straight into the Arabic text box in the ME InDesign Arabic file, and it showed perfectly right and editable as well. So here I am with CS4 InDesign, and inputting Arabic from something like a word file (which displays RTL fine), and it instantly becomes flipped backwards. Apparently Adobe never bothered to code for RTL text, so they had a company called Winsoft do it for them, and then sell their own version of InDesign instead of adding it to the regular version!

As of right now we are writing in Arabic on Google docs and pasting into InDesign. This works for the most part except when we try to make columns. The columns are backward then they are supposed to be.
